Tips

When we think of curvaceous we immediately think of the woman’s body. There are endless ways, you can photograph this. It does not have to be the whole body, there are plenty of curves on various parts of the body, remember less is better. Lighting should play a major part in these photos to emphasise form and show the contours and shadows created by side light. Using rim lighting in black and white shots is very effective. Remember a small baby is all curves. Looking further afield to a gentle curved stem with a delicate flower on the end or the sensuous curves of bare sand hills lit by low light. The gently curved branches or tree trunks or the long sweep of sand meeting surf are others.  These images of curves other than the human body need to be creative with an ethereal effect by perhaps blurring parts of them and using soft colours rather than sharp curves and harsh colours. I think the word “curvaceous” conjures up magical, dreamlike images. Be creative.
