Dave Simpson APSNZ, LRPS specialises in taking 'photos of people doing things'. By day he's a street photographer and by night he photos live music concerts. He shoots international acts at (mostly) well lit arenas and stadiums for Getty Images, and he shoots local bands in (very) dark rooms for undertheradar.co.nz. His pictures for Getty Images regularly appear in newspapers and magazines around the world. Dave also teaches street photography for NZ Photography Tours.
Join us for a fun evening where Dave will talk us through a live music shoot and show us his workflow which starts a day or two before the concert and ends with a mad rush after the concert, narrowing down hundreds of shots to just a couple of dozen for uploading to 'the wire', ready to be used by newspapers. There will be a live demonstration using Lightroom and, every photojournalist's favourite software, Photomechanic.
